Advocacy
WJCI advocates for policies that transform immigrants’ lives. We stand up for human rights and social justice around the major issues facing immigrants today, including citizenship, food insecurity, healthcare, housing, and employment.

Advocacy Week
What is Advocacy Week?
WJCI, in partnership with HIAS, advocates for refugees in our communities by participating in Advocacy Week, which occurs both during the spring and the month of August for the Congressional recess. During Advocacy Week, we meet with our representatives to advocate for the rights of refugees, asylum seekers, and all immigrants in our community and throughout the world. Click here to learn more about Advocacy Week 2024.
During Advocacy Week Spring 2024, our community met with key members of the Senate and Congress, including U.S. Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer and Congressmen Adriano Espaillat, Mike Lawler, and Jamaal Bowman.
We advocated for human rights and specifically discussed the need for an Afghan Adjustment Act, Refugee Resettlement, International Humanitarian issues, and Asylum at our southern border.
